The contents  tend to include a wide range of themes on real social issues. Global warming, the abandonment of the elderly, racism, gender politics, multiethnic society, online bullying, issues of diversity and inclusion, and North-South divisions, etc. This is a trend not limited to textbooks. Korean children's literature has a strong tendency toward social participation.\nOne of the major characteristics of contemporary Korean children's literature is the promotion of social participation.
