| 内容記述 | Why Yokai Watch is so popular among children and even adults all over Japan ? This paper will try to answer this question. Several reasons have been pointed out: the popularity of yokais themselves since mid 1960s, which was ignited by Shigeru Mizuki’s TV animation, Gegege no Kitaro, the success of skillful cross media tactics, ingenious appropriations and parodies and so on. Yet the author thinks there is another reason for this unusual popularity, which seems to have long lain deep in our nature. That is, the preference for Yokais since at latest 13 c. and little KAWAII (cute) objects which could be traced back to Yayoi period. Then, where do Yokais and KAWAII meet? To make these points clear, the characteristics of Yokai Watch are described in the 1st chapter (“What Is Yokai Watch ?”), then the genealogy in animation of Yokai Watch is discussed in the 2nd chapter (“Genealogy in animation of Yokai Watch”). Finally our long lasting nature which supports the popularity of the work is pointed out (“Our Nature that Supports the Popularity of Yokai Watch”). |
